Sometimes being sick helps

From Sunday to Thursday I was sick with a cold and then Thursday through today I've been sick with a very upset stomach. Both illnesses have left me with very little appetite for anything except soup or bread. It's not exactly following my Naturopath plan, but sometimes you have to do what works. Today I'm going to try to get back on track.
Weight loss to date = 14.4 pounds (almost to 15 woo hoo!)

Today's measurements
Bust = 41" down 2 1/2" (sorry Chad)
Rib = 36 1/2" down 1/2"
Waist = 37 1/2" down 1/2"
Hips = 42" down 3 1/2"

So far, so good.

One month down

So I have been on this program for 4 weeks and I have lost a little over 11 pounds. I definately can't complain about that. I will say that I have been having a ton of sugar and chocolate cravings and I am fighting them like mad. I had been relaxing a bit too much on the journaling. I started that up again today. My fat fat pants fit again and my fat pants aren't quite as tight! Woo hoo.

Naturopath Visit

Just so you know I haven't abandoned my weight loss goals, I've just been busy. I'm not posting my weight today because I didn't weigh myself. I went out for dinner for Valentines day and splurged a little. My naturopath says it is OK to splurge once or twice a week. Things I learned at my naturopath appointment.

1- I'm drinking too much water. Did you know there was such a thing? Apparently when you drink too much water it creates an imbalance in your salt levels and prohibits you from losing weight. This one blew me away because every time I try to loss weight I up my water intake. Funny huh?

2- Cooked carrots, corn and peas do not count as vegetables ( I knew about the corn).

3- I was taking my supplements all wrong and I shouldn't be drinking water with my meals because that dilutes the supplements.

4- He suggested I try "Grizzly Bear Runs" instead of all the walking I've been doing. This is where you run as fast as you can uphill for 30 seconds, then rest for 30 seconds. You do this for three minutes. I did this yesterday and I have to say I much prefer the walking but these runs are supposed to be better for you and more effective for weight loss and they only take 3 minutes!

5- My shin splint pain my also be attributed to my imbalance in salt and water.

I thought all of this was very interesting. He said I was doing a great job and if I keep it up the weight will come off. We'll see. I'm being very skeptical because I tend to lose weight pretty quick at first then I hit a plateau early.

First week completed.

All in all I think I did alright. Over the weekend I discovered that eating out is difficult. Chad and I were running errands all day Saturday. We ate at Red Robin for lunch. I ordered a lettuce wrap hamburger which was actually pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised. It is very difficult to get all your vegetables when eating out. For dinner, we ended up at Wendy's. I got a 1/4 hamburger with pickles and onion and took off the top bun. Again no veggies. :( I think I did pretty well over the weekend, considering. From here on out I am only weighing myself once a week.
Starting weight= 175.4
Today's weight = 172.8
Weight lost to date = 2.6
Can't complain there. Healthy weight loss is supposed to be 2 pounds a week. I also finally took my measurements. Gulp! Here they are.
Waist - 38"
Hips - 45 1/2"
Bust - 43 1/2"
Ribs - 37"
Right and Left arms - 14 1/2"
Right Thigh - 28 1/4"
Left Thigh - 27"

A couple of things.

First, I was in a preschool classroom the other day and a student noticed my ID. She said, "Is that what you really look like?" I replied, "That is what I used to look like" thinking yeah in the picture my hair is longer and a different color. Her response? "And now you are bigger" Then she skipped away. Yes, and now I am bigger. Great. Aren't kids so innocent and truthful?

The other thing I wanted to comment on is how frustrated I was until today. Between Monday and Tuesday I lost 2 pounds. Since then I have gone up, back down and maintained. I felt like I'm doing all this work for nothing. Today I stepped on the scale and I am down another 2 pounds. 4 pounds in a week isn't bad at all. Starting Monday I think I need to start weighing myself once a week, just for my own sanity.
